Processed Thoughts, not Processed Foods
Is organic possible on a budget?
Frugal, decisive, researched. These are the standards The Simply Filled Pantry brings to you.
I am frugal by nature. Even as a child I saved and planned.
Decisiveness may have been developed due to my dad's statement, "50% of your decisions will be wrong, it's how long it takes you to figure that out and what you do about it that determines outcomes." Each time you make a decision, even if it turns out to be wrong, there is learning to help make a better decision next go round.
"Research to understand," is how I apply critical thinking to make the best decision I can. I want to know why I should choose this or that and weigh a significant body of available information, then decide.
My frugality leads me to be able to tell you I have done the math on whole grains and freshly milled grains. I crunched the numbers to know even with buy-in costs, this puts me in the black (positive) both cost-wise and in nutritional increase very quickly and it can for you too.
Look at the price of one bag of Dave's Killer Bread, around $6-7. One standard batch of dough which will make 2 loaves, requires about 1.5# of wheat flour. Add some honey, butter or olive oil, yeast and salt, and maybe buttermilk, less than the cost of one Dave's loaf (based on The Simply Filled Pantry sourcing for grain and yeast). So, 2 loaves, made from high quality ingredients, loaded with nutrition and leaves us feeling full and satisfied for hours. Less snacking at our house since going whole grain which is an additional savings.
The Simply Filled Pantry will present to you some of my most concise resource articles and videos that I come across to save you time, but know I have read and watched considerably more. Time is precious, especially when you have work and family that you want to spend most of your time with, not research.
Bottom line: The Whole Grain Eating lifestyle needs to be affordable, doable and make sense to you.
